I am currently a lecturer (digital media) in the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University in the UK. I am working on a European funded project to provide learning support to SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), mostly through on-line presentation with facilitation. This is a partnership which includes a city council, government funded training agencies and old and new universities. The aim is to determine the most effective way of presenting training to employees of SMEs. I suspect that this mix of providers might be of interest to this group.
My personal history includes having designed a multimedia, multilingual search system for images (150,000!) for a medium sized enterprise in London, been a consultant for computers in learning, conducted research in Australia in computer aided language learning and offered professional development for language teachers in CAL.
I am interested in the 'who is providing what' and the 'how is it perceived' aspect of this OCREW but also in the 'how' and 'to whom' and particularly in what seems to me to be a neglected area, 'how is it evaluated?'.
I hope there are others here interested in similar areas and I look forward to contributing to the ongoing discussions.
